Alpine hut

Fidgit Bivvy is a basic, free DOC backcountry bivvy-style hut on the Ka Whata Tu o Rakihouia Conservation Park (Marlborough region). It has 2 bunk beds and no reservation system—bookings aren’t required, with use first come, first served.

You’ll find no fireplace and no drinking water provided, but it does have toilets with pit-latrine disposal. The main approach into Clarence is via Blind Saddle Road; access into the Clarence is arranged by contacting Colin Nimmo (Muzzle Station), and there’s a road maintenance fee for motorised vehicles. The road is closed to vehicles over the winter months, and there is no maintained DOC track access—plan navigation for yourself using map/compass/GPS.
