Haycocks Bivouac
Haycocks Bivouac is a basic, 2-bunk backcountry hut run by the Department of Conservation, in the Ka Whata Tu o Rakihouia area (Marlborough region). Use is free and bookings aren’t required—plan on first come, first served sleeping in the 2 bunk beds.
The hut has drinking water available but it’s untreated, plus toilets with pit latrine disposal. There’s no fireplace provided. Access is not via a maintained DOC track into the Clarence area, so you’ll need navigation skills using a map, compass, and GPS, and you should be comfortable with route-finding in the backcountry.
