Green Gate Huts

Green Gate Huts are historic backcountry shelters on the Coronet Loop Trail in Otago, New Zealand. Use is on a free, first-come, first-served basis with no booking system required, and the hut has limited sleeping space (4 bunks).

The hut is kept simple: it has a basic long-drop/outhouse, an open fire for heating, and a nearby water source that you’ll need to treat before drinking. There’s no kitchen or stove—bring your own cooking gear and provisions for evenings out on the trail.
