Greys Hut

Greys Hut is a backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park (West Coast region), run by the Department of Conservation in the Buller area. It’s a basic six-bunk hut, so plan for first-come, first-served use rather than bookings.

Facilities include a pit latrine and a fireplace, and the hut has mattresses. Drinking water is not provided, so carry enough for your tramp in and out; the access into the hut via the Karamea Gorge Route is no longer being maintained by DOC, and walking access is recommended only for experienced, well-equipped backcountry trampers.
