Herepai Hut

Herepai Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Tararua Forest Park (Wairarapa region). It’s a standard 10-bunk hut managed through the Greater Wellington Backcountry Network, making it a common overnight stop for people doing multi-day tramps in the area.

Stay is first come, first served and you must use a Standard Hut Ticket in an honesty box for each night. Adult pricing is $10 per night (youth $5 per night; children 0–4 free); fees change from 1 July 2026. The hut has drinking water (untreated), a fireplace, mattresses, and toilets with pit latrine disposal.
