Kiritaki Hut
Kiritaki Hut is a standard six-bunk backcountry hut managed by the Department of Conservation in Ruahine Forest Park (Hawke’s Bay region). It’s a first-come, first-served hut—standard bookings aren’t required—so plan to arrive with your group ready to share the bunks if it’s busy.
There are six bunks, with a fireplace provided. Drinking water is untreated, and there are no toilets at the hut. The hut was renovated by Backcountry Trust volunteers in February 2025. Fees are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4); no bookings are required, but you must buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut.
