Stanfield Hut

Stanfield Hut is a standard eight-bunk backcountry hut in Ruahine Forest Park (Hawke’s Bay region). It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and is set up for overnight trips as well as day-walk excursions into the park.

Use is first come, first served—no standard bookings are required—while you arrange a Standard Hut Ticket for each night (or use a Backcountry Hut Pass). The hut has an on-site woodburner and uses rainwater from a tank; water is untreated, and an outhouse is available with pit-latrine disposal. Fees apply (Adult 18+ $10 per night; Youth 5–17 $5 per night; Child/Infant 0–4 free), with pricing changing from 1 July 2026.
