High Cliff
High Cliff is a compact crag in Squamish’s Smoke Bluffs, below Burgers and Fries. The wall is predominantly shady and offers a quieter alternative to the Bluffs’ more established sectors. Reach it by following the main path a short distance south from Burgers and Fries, then taking the signed descent; the dihedral of Twenty Minute Workout is visible on the approach.
The crag has roughly 18–19 documented routes, with grades from 5.6 to 5.11d and lengths of about 8–30 m. Trad climbing dominates, but sport options are available, including Lord of the Drink. Named lines include The Gift at 5.6, Issy’s Rock at 5.9, Run Like a Thief at 5.10-, Twenty Minute Workout at 5.10b, Splat at 5.10d, Fred Snails at 5.11a, and Red Nails at 5.11d.
High Cliff sits within a municipal park beside residential areas, so keep noise and general impact low. Inspect the committed features before climbing and be especially cautious after rain: the shaded wall and approach can remain wet, making current rock conditions important.
