Island in the Sky
Island in the Sky is a small crag in the Smoke Bluffs near Squamish, with a compact mix of trad and sport climbing. The area has routes from 5.6 to 5.10c, generally 5–25 m long, with a maximum listed wall height of 35 m.
The climbing includes granite crack and slab lines. Examples range from the 25 m, 5.8 trad Fissureman’s Friend and 20 m, 5.7 trad route The Kip to the 10 m, 5.10b mixed Gang of Foreplay. Several short slab routes share anchors with neighboring climbs.
Approach from High Cliff by following the path downhill and north toward Island in the Sky and The Zip. The first climbs reached from the Island in the Sky trail include a 10 m, 5.10b trad crack with a right-leaning finger crack and a second finger crack near the finish.
Respect the Smoke Bluffs access framework: some cliffs are on private land, keep noise down near homes, and do not use fences, hydro towers, or similar structures as anchors.
