Jacks Camp Hut
Jacks Camp Hut is a Helisika backcountry hut in the Helisika hunting blocks area. The hut is a new 4-bunk setup with solar lights and basic kitchen equipment provided, including pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, and a cooker with gas.
Use is for private hunting blocks, with a booking process that requires reserving the dates in advance. Land fees apply for access to the block rather than for use of the hut; prices are per load, include GST, and come with additional land-fee and service-fee charges. Hunting rules include a maximum of one deer per person plus one per party, DOC hunting permits are required when hunting on adjoining DOC land, and strict no night shooting (no spot lighting, night vision, infrared/thermal imaging gear). Dogs may be limited by some Maori land trusts, and parties may be capped at 4 persons for certain blocks.
