Kanohirua Hut

Kanohirua Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut designed for small groups (capacity: 6). The hut has a fireplace and pit latrine toilets, and it does not provide drinking water—plan to bring what you need for your stay.

For Te Urewera backcountry trips, DOC emphasizes self-sufficiency: carry a suitable shelter (for example, a tent) and the gear you need to be independent of hut facilities; carrying a distress beacon is strongly recommended in remote areas with no mobile reception.
