Kwohl Butte Shelter
Kwohl Butte Shelter is a basic backcountry shelter used as a free, daytime warming stop in the Deschutes National Forest area. It’s accessed during winter via the Edison Butte Sno-Park and is commonly used by snowmobilers, skiers, and snowshoers as an unstaffed resting and warming spot.
Because it’s intended for day use, it isn’t set up for booking or reserving overnight stays. Shelter etiquette centers on using the wood for warmth and packing out what you bring; once the wood is gone, it’s gone until the fall stocking effort.
