Shooting Star Shelter

Shooting Star Shelter is a basic, unstaffed warming shelter on the MeissnerNordic network, used as a rest stop for winter backcountry travel. It has a wood-burning stove stocked by volunteer efforts, but there’s no running water or electricity.

Overnights aren’t allowed—use is strictly for day use on a first-come, first-served basis. Access is via a multi-mile cross-country ski or snowshoe route starting from Virginia Meissner Sno-Park, about 15 miles west of Bend on the Cascade Lakes Highway; parking at the Sno-Park requires a valid Oregon Sno-Park permit.
