Lake Christabel Hut
Lake Christabel Hut is a standard eight-bunk backcountry hut in Victoria Forest Park, in the West Coast region, run by the Department of Conservation. It’s for staying overnight on multi-day trips; standard bookings aren’t required and stays operate on a first-come, first-served basis using an honesty box system for hut tickets.
Inside, the hut sleeps up to 8. A fireplace is provided, and the toilet is an outhouse with a pitlatrine disposal system. There’s no drinking water supplied. Fees apply: adult (18+) $10 per night, youth (5–17) $5 per night, and children/infants (0–4) are free; for each night’s stay, you buy the appropriate Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) and place it in the honesty box.
