McIntyre's Hut

McIntyre’s Hut is a five-bunk backcountry hut in the Queenstown/Wakatipu area, managed by the Department of Conservation in the Whakaari Conservation Area. It’s set up for use as standard hut accommodation with pit latrines and bedding provided (mattress). Drinking-water is untreated; in the Whakaari area, natural water sources may be contaminated with historic mining pollutants, and filtration/boiling is not considered reliable for making water safe—carry all water needed for your visit.
