McKellar Lodge

McKellar Lodge is a private backcountry hut in Fiordland National Park on New Zealand’s South Island, set on the Greenstone Track. It’s used primarily by guided walkers rather than independent tramping, and it’s separate from the nearby public McKellar Hut.

The lodge is set up for groups staying multiple nights: it sleeps up to 30 bunks. Inside, it has electric lighting (powered by a generator that typically shuts off in the late evening) and cooking facilities for guest use, plus drying and washing facilities for wet gear.

Overnight comfort is geared toward lodge-style stays (fully made beds with pillows, duvets, and linen). Sanitation includes shared flush toilets and hot showers; there’s also a closed fire/wood stove and a satellite internet connection.
