Memorial Hut
Memorial Hut is an 8-bed mustering hut on Glenmore Station at the head of the Cass Valley, where the Cass River meets Ailsa Stream. It’s a remote ski base for exploring the Ailsa Valley and upper branches of the Cass, with easy access by 4WD to the door, then a short final step from the vehicle area. The hut has a log burner and kitchen setup including a gas cooker, and it uses a traditional longdrop toilet.
Hut stays are booked for the Cass Valley ski touring season (online bookings run from 1 July to 12 October), with access by 4WD up the Cass Valley. Supplies in the huts include gas rings and bottles, firewood, cooking equipment, dishes, mugs, and drying/boot-rack space; you’ll also need your own fitted sheet or sleeping bag liner, toilet paper, and a tea towel. Memorial Hut is set up for backcountry ski touring parties and is also a common base for routes toward Mt Hutton and nearby glacier skiing and frozen waterfall ice climbing.
