Midtimber Lake Cabin

Midtimber Lake Cabin is a backcountry public-use wilderness cabin in the Gulf Coast area near Yakataga, managed by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources within the Yakataga State Game Refuge. The cabin is a cedar structure with a covered porch that also serves as a cooking area, plus a pit latrine and a bear-proof food storage box.

The cabin sleeps up to 8 guests (minimum occupancy 1) and has a 7-night stay limit. It’s fly-in only; typical access is by floatplane or ski-equipped aircraft. Heating is provided by an oil stove that uses #1 Diesel or Kerosene—bring the fuel yourself, along with your sleeping gear, cooking gear and fuel, and a way to purify all drinking water (including surface water).
