Raven Cabin

Raven Cabin is a Tongass National Forest wilderness backcountry hut near Yakutat, Alaska, on the east bank of the Situk River. It’s a rustic pan-abode cabin that sleeps up to 5 people, and use is by reservation through Recreation.gov. The cabin is open year-round and is used as a base for fishing and hunting in the Situk River area.

The cabin is accessed by wheeled aircraft, boat, or a roughly 3-mile hiking trail (with boat access described as 3.2 miles downriver). Inside, it includes bunks plus an oil heater, picnic table, and an outhouse; there’s also a campfire ring and a meat shed nearby. Water is not provided at the cabin—bring or treat water—and visitors are expected to pack out trash and clean the cabin before leaving.

Bookings are for a specific date range, with an overall rental fee plus a reservation process handled on Recreation.gov (the cabin costs roughly $35 per night). Guests should plan for remote conditions and bring required supplies (including heating fuel and basic camping gear); the facility also has rules around safety in bear country and firewood movement to reduce pest spread.
