Situk Lake Cabin

Situk Lake Cabin is a Tongass National Forest backcountry cabin on the eastern shore of Situk Lake in the Russell Fjord Wilderness, about 14 miles northeast of Yakutat. It’s a small Pan Abode-style cabin with four single bunks (capacity: 4), an interior table/benches, a broom and axe, and a multi-fuel stove that burns either oil or wood.

Use requires advance reservations. The cabin has an outhouse/vault toilet, and you’ll need to bring your own drinking water—water must be taken from Situk Lake and treated. Expect to supply heating fuel (#1 diesel oil or kerosene) for the stove, and bring your own flotation device if you plan to use the cabin’s skiff with oars.
