Montgomerie Hut

Montgomerie Hut is a standard six-bunk backcountry hut in Victoria Forest Park (West Coast region), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s set up for stays where you don’t need to book ahead—use is first come, first served—and you sleep in a bed supplied at the hut.

There’s a fireplace provided and pit latrines on site. A standard hut ticket is required for each night: adults (18+) pay $10 per night, youth (5–17) pay $5 per night, and children/infants (0–4) are free; place the appropriate ticket in the honesty box at the hut. An alternative is a Backcountry Hut Pass that allows unlimited use at most standard and serviced huts for a 12-month period.
