Moonlight And Roses Hut
Moonlight And Roses Hut is a basic four-bunk backcountry hut in Hāwea Conservation Park (Otago region), used for public accommodation on DOC-managed land. Owned by Dingleburn Station and maintained by DOC, it’s a historic hut built in 1941 and is open for public use without bookings—first come, first served.
Facilities include drinking water that’s untreated, a fireplace, mattresses, and toilets with pit latrine disposal. There can be challenging avalanche terrain above the hut; if you plan to travel beyond it, check the avalanche danger on the New Zealand Avalanche Advisory and use appropriate avalanche gear and skills.
