Motukawanui Hut

Motukawanui Hut is a serviced platform-style bunk hut run by the Department of Conservation in the Motukawanui Island Scenic Reserve (Northland). Access is by boat only, with the hut located at Waiiti Bay on Motukawanui Island; it’s a base for experiencing the Northland Cavalli Islands.

The hut sleeps 12 and uses candle lighting, with cold tap water available. There’s a composting toilet; camping isn’t permitted on the island due to fire risk and associated impacts on wildlife and other values. Bookings are required for stays (no spaces held for walk-ins), with instructions for an access code provided with the booking confirmation. No dogs are allowed. Drinking water is untreated.
