Mount Dennis
Mount Dennis is an ice-climbing crag on the northwest flank of the mountain in Yoho National Park, south of Field, British Columbia. The area has about 10 routes, with recorded lines reaching 110 m. Notable objectives include Carlsberg Column (WI5, 60 m), Pilsner Pillar (WI6, 215 m), and Cascade Kronenbourg (WI6, 90 m).
Avalanche hazard is central to planning here: all of the ice climbs follow avalanche paths, and avalanches regularly run over the routes. Warm or rainy weather is particularly serious. The Field Back Road below the mountain can also be closed intermittently for avalanche-control work, so confirm current access and avalanche conditions before committing. Ice and mixed climbing is generally associated with the colder period from early November through late March.
