Mt Hyde Turk
Mt Hyde Turk is a backcountry hut on the Mahu Whenua traverse at 1770 m, the highest Turk on the traverse. It sits in a small basin just below the ridge and is exposed to weather. The hut is for expeditions moving through the traverse rather than point-to-point access: there are no officially formed tracks or markers to reach it, so you’ll need map and/or GPS navigation, plus suitable alpine travel gear and a locator beacon/PLB.
