Mueller Hut
Mueller Hut is an alpine serviced 28-bunk hut in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, run by the Department of Conservation. It has lighting, gas cookers, and mattresses on platform bunks in separate bunkrooms; there are also toilets with pit-latrine disposal. Drinking water is untreated.
Use is by booking during 11 November–30 April (served via online alpine bookings). From 1 May–10 November, bookings aren’t required, but you still need to pay fees and arrange a hut ticket and registration at the Aoraki/Mount Cook Visitor Centre before your hike; arriving without a ticket first may leave you unable to be accommodated. Fees apply year-round, while Backcountry Hut Passes and Backcountry Hut Tickets can’t be used here. A daily radio check-in with a weather update is broadcast to alpine huts at 6:45 pm, and toilet access can be difficult in winter. Car parking fees can apply at White Horse Hill from 15 December 2025; the track to Mueller Hut starts near the White Horse Hill car park.
