Nightmare Rock

Loading map…

Nightmare Rock is an east-facing granite crag in Murrin Park, with a mixed selection of trad and sport climbing. The area has roughly two to three dozen routes, ranging from 5.8 to 5.14a; many of the stronger lines are 5.11 and above. Routes reach about 40 metres, including long overhanging lines such as Big Daddy Overhang.

The crag is on the west side of the road approximately 400 metres north of the Murrin parking lot. Its large roofs are visible from Highway 99, and a trail near the south end reaches the cliff in under five minutes. Road noise can be noticeable. The east-facing wall and several rain-sheltered routes make Nightmare Rock a useful option during unsettled weather.
