Octopus Garden
Octopus Garden is a trad-oriented crag in Squamish’s Smoke Bluffs, with 19 listed routes spanning 5.8 to 5.12a in the Yosemite Decimal System. The climbing is largely crack-focused, with forest shade and several lines following long, sinuous cracks.
The easier end includes several 5.8 and 5.9 routes, while Electric Ball is 5.11b, McPherson’s Fancy is 5.11c, and Leonissisation reaches 5.12a. Octopus' Garden in the Shade is a 20 m 5.8 trad route; Ray Parker made the first ascent and Dean Hart recorded the first free ascent in 1982.
The crag is considered top-ropeable and offers a varied introduction to Smoke Bluffs climbing. Its position away from the parking area can make it quieter than the closest walls. Some Smoke Bluffs cliffs are on private land and closed; near homes, keep noise down and do not anchor to fences, hydro towers, or similar structures.
