Pillar of Payan
Pillar of Payan is a small climbing crag in the Valley of Shaddai above Murrin Park near Squamish, British Columbia. The setting is a secluded, forested gap with vertical walls and little road noise; the crag has both sport and traditional climbing, with two climbs catalogued at the sector.
Approach from Murrin Park by crossing the highway and following a rough trail that climbs steeply through the forest. The route continues through the Quail’s Gate area before descending a steep gully into the valley; Pillar of Payan lies farther south beyond the lower valley crags. The approach is short in distance but rugged, taking roughly 30 minutes.
Just Blessed is the sector’s established trad line, graded 5.10c. It follows a steep finger-and-hand crack on a flat, vertical face and was first climbed in 1997 by Glenn Payan, Jeff Thomson, and John Thompson.
