Pinnacles Hut is a Department of Conservation serviced 19-bunk backcountry hut in the Mt Somers area of Canterbury, located in Hakatere Conservation Park. It’s reached from the Mount Somers Track and is booked as bunk beds rather than as a specific bunk; it has facilities including single and double bunks and an on-site cooking setup isn’t provided (no cooking facilities or utensils).

Use is set up for booked stays: bookings are open for stays up to 30 June 2027, and if online availability shows none for your dates the hut is fully booked—there are no spaces held for walk-ins. Unbridged stream crossings are on the route from Sharplin Falls car park to Pinnacles Hut, and Pony Stream can become dangerous and impassable after heavy rain, so avoid the track if heavy rain is forecast. The hut is steep, rough, and physically demanding—more challenging than most other Mt Somers tracks—and tramping experience is needed; an easier alternative is an overnight trip from Woolshed Creek car park to Woolshed Creek Hut.
