Rangipo Hut

Rangipo Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Tongariro National Park, in the Tūrangi/Taupō area, serving the Round the Mountain Track. It’s a serviced hut with 20 bunk beds and an altitude of 1,556 m, and it has a wood burner for heating; firewood is flown in annually, so use is expected to be limited to what’s provided for everyone.

Use is by booking, with stays open up to 30 June 2027. Fees apply ($25 per night for adults 18+, $12.50 for youth 5–17, and free for children/infants 0–4), and no spaces are kept for arrivals without a booking if the hut shows as fully booked online. Drinking water is untreated, and waste is handled via a pit latrine toilet.
