Rats Nest Hut

Rats Nest Hut (also known as The Stoats Nest) is a small backcountry hut in Otago’s Greenstone Valley area style of tramping, used for independent overnights rather than scheduled hut-to-hut travel. It has 8 bunks and is set up for travelers who arrive with their own plan rather than counting on reservations.

Use is first-come, first-served, with no advance bookings. Expect to register in the hut log book when you arrive, since the hut supports independent trampers sharing limited space.
