Ryders Hut

Ryders Hut is a remote, self-service backcountry hut associated with the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing country. Use is limited to emergency/backcountry necessity rather than regular campground-style accommodation. It’s a very basic shelter—more like a preserved historic muster-style structure—so plan for minimal comfort and bring what you need for an overnight in the hut area.

There’s no booking system and use is free/first-come, first-served. Expect limited firewood and be prepared to be fully self-sufficient with food and water; camping stoves are strongly preferred. Pack out all rubbish and leave the hut clean for others. Dogs are restricted/prohibited and may require specific landowner permission depending on how you access the wider area.
