Snowgrass Hut
Snowgrass Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Ka Whata Tu o Rakihouia Conservation Park (Clarence, Marlborough). It’s a standard 10-bunk hut—use is first come, first served, with no standard bookings required.
Bring a hut ticket: you buy a Standard Hut Ticket (adult/ youth colours) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass. The hut provides untreated drinking water, a mattress, and a fireplace; there’s also a pit latrine toilet. Access has no DOC track approach—route-plan and navigate yourself, and vehicle access into the Clarence via the main approach road is restricted by season (including winter closure to vehicles over the winter months), with a locked gate at Kahutara River bridge for horse/vehicle access.
