Sugarloaf

Sugarloaf is a granite climbing crag in Murrin Park, one of the park’s named climbing walls. The area has 24 routes and is mostly traditional climbing, with listed grades from 5.4 to 5.12c.

Routes range from about 8 to 22 metres. Easier options include Flat Battery and Magnet at 5.4, Little Spark and Jump Start at 5.6, and Lieback Crack and The Mechanic at 5.7; Magnet and Lieback Crack are also identified among the area’s trad or top-rope climbs.

Sugarloaf is considered a beginner-friendly Murrin Park crag for top-roping. Reach it from the trail beside the toilets at the south end of the main parking lot; the approach climbs for a few minutes, with access to the top continuing around the right side of the cliff.

Murrin Park lies alongside Highway 99, 2 km north of Britannia Beach and 9 km south of Squamish. Parking is limited to designated lots, overnight parking is prohibited, and the park has no potable water, so bring drinking water.
