The Apron
The Apron is the low-angle granite formation on the Stawamus Chief in Squamish, British Columbia, known primarily for technical slab climbing alongside classic crack routes. The area is divided into the Central, Lower, North, South, and Upper South Apron sectors, with trad, sport, and general rock climbing represented across the formation.
Classic moderate multipitch lines include Diedre and Calculus Crack, both 5.8 six-pitch trad routes; St. Vitus' Dance and Snake are 5.9 five-pitch trad routes. The North Apron also includes Rock On, a 5.10a five-pitch trad climb. The Apron lies within Stawamus Chief Provincial Park, and route approaches begin from the Chief trail system, with forested terrain at the base making individual starts easy to miss.
