The Hermitage

The Hermitage is a compact sport-climbing crag in Cheakamus Canyon near Squamish, with 13 documented routes. The rock is regarded as some of the best in Chek, and the cliff overlooks old-growth firs.

The climbing is short and powerful rather than long and endurance-focused, with water-eroded features on the lines. From the main Cheakamus Canyon parking area, allow about 20 minutes on foot via the Deathtrap Trail; the approach includes exposed ledge traverses and is intended for climbers comfortable with adventurous access. A second approach reaches the crag from The Monastery through a steep gully.
