The Outpost

The Outpost is a sport-climbing area in Cheakamus Canyon with five listed routes, spanning 5.9 to 5.11a on the YDS scale. Four routes are multi-pitch: Death Of The Republic (160 m, 5.10c), Centurion (170 m, 5.10c), Western Harlot (100 m, 5.9), and 100 Zulu (86 m, 5.10a).

Access involves following Conroy Forest Road for roughly 2.4 km beyond the main parking area to a clearing, then walking 15–20 minutes on a flagged path to the talus field and Outpost sign. The area began development in 2013.

Centurion is a fully bolted, six-pitch sport route at 175 m and 5.10c. It requires a 60 m rope, 12 quickdraws, and four long draws; rappel descent is used. Rockfall remains possible on this mountaineering-style route, so a helmet is advised.
