Thor Hut

Thor Hut is a basic 6-bunk backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman region) managed by the Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai. Use is free, and no bookings are required—stays run on a first-come, first-served basis. The hut has a fireplace and sleeping accommodation, plus toilet facilities with a pit latrine setup.

Plan for a longer one-way hut approach typical of 6 to 9 days. Entry is via the Motueka area, and the hut sits in the Nelson/Tasman/Marlborough planning zone—carry everything you need since no drinking water is provided at the hut.
