Trevor Carter Hut

Trevor Carter Hut is a standard 12-bunk backcountry hut in Kahurangi National Park (Nelson/Tasman). It’s managed by the Department of Conservation and is used for multi-day trips in the Motueka area.

Stay is first come, first served—no standard bookings are required, but you do need a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut. Adult (18+) stays cost $10 per night through 30 June 2026, with youth (5–17) at $5 per night and children/infants (0–4) free; fees change from 1 July 2026. The hut provides drinking water that’s untreated, and it has mattresses, a fireplace, and pit latrine toilets with waste disposal. Closest huts listed are Thor Hut (~3 hr 30 min, 9.5 km) and Helicopter Flat Hut (~1 hr 30 min).
