Tribulation Hut
Tribulation Hut is a basic six-bunk backcountry hut in Hakatere Conservation Park in the Canterbury region, managed by the Department of Conservation. Use is free and bookings aren’t required—plans are first come, first served at the hut.
Access is about 3 hours 30 minutes (10 km) from a small car park on Double Hill Run Road. From there, turn off SH72 onto Blackford Road, which becomes Double Hill Run Road. Car access and track access are on the true right of Redcliffe Stream; Redcliffe Stream Scenic Reserve and Hakatere Conservation Park are reached via private property, so stay on the marked easement. The hut has sleeping mats and toilets (pit latrine), with no drinking water and no fireplace.
