Upper Crag-X
Upper Crag-X is a cliff in the Crag X sector of Squamish’s Smoke Bluffs. The wall is about 17 m high and has 20 recorded routes, with the climbing predominantly trad: 12 trad lines and 3 sport routes are identified in area records.
Known routes include Virgin Soil (5.10c), Fingerlickin' Good (5.11a), Outer Mongolia (5.11c), and X-Ray (5.10d trad). The crag offers crack climbing, and Virgin Soil is a useful option during a short dry spell because it tends to dry reasonably quickly.
A 5.12a line begins on X-Ray, the 1981 trad route, before moving left onto an aesthetic face. Smoke Bluffs access restrictions apply: some cliffs are closed because they are on private land, and climbers should keep noise down near homes and avoid anchoring to fences, hydro towers, or similar structures.
