Zekes Hut

Zekes Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in the Hihitahi Forest Sanctuary in the Central North Island region, south of Waiouru. It’s a standard four-bunk hut with no bookings required—stays are first come, first served.

Facilities include water from a tank, a woodstove, and pit latrine toilets. Drinking water is untreated. Hut tickets are required for an overnight stay: buy a Standard Hut Ticket for each night and place it in the honesty box, or use a Backcountry Hut Pass that covers unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for 12 months.
