Zoo Hut

Zoo Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut located in Isolated Hill Scenic Reserve (Marlborough region). It’s a standard 4-bunk hut in the South Marlborough area, with stays operated on a first-come, first-served basis (no bookings required).

Bring a hut ticket for each night: Standard Hut Tickets are required and should be placed in the honesty box at the hut (or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 12-month period). Fees are $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 per night for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4). The hut has drinking water that is untreated, a fireplace, mattresses, and toilets with a pit latrine disposal system.
