Abri du Melu
Abri du Melu is a small, unstaffed forestry shelter on the trail network near Melo (1549 m). It’s intended for emergency use, with very limited space and only minimal sleeping possibilities.
Inside, there’s a fireplace/cheminée but using it is discouraged; the shelter is cramped and cluttered with miscellaneous gear and tools, and it includes a picnic table positioned in front of the shelter.
The shelter has no reliable drinking-water source nearby; a nearby stream may be dry. Access is along the good forest track (closed to through traffic) that connects the Col de la Croix (“Bocca a Croce”) to the Maison Forestière de Melo, and the shelter sits by a forest-fire defense cistern (access to the cistern is not allowed).
