Abri forestier d'Alzu

Abri forestier d'Alzu is a tiny, unmanaged backcountry shelter in Corsica (capacity 3) set at about 1,575 m, used as emergency cover rather than a staffed refuge. Inside it has three foam mattresses on a board for sleeping, plus a fireplace; there is no stove. Building access is via the cairned trail between the PNRC of la Sega refuge and the bergeries of the Plateau d'Alzo, just before the path clears the forest and reaches the bergeries plateau.

The shelter is weather-tight but very cramped, and older reports note that the entrance can be effectively blocked and that in an emergency it may be better to shelter in the nearby Alzu bergeries. Water is available in a nearby stream/ruff; there’s no latrine and no covers/blankets are provided. Expect to rely on your own emergency supplies and bedding, and treat it as strictly backup accommodation (free, no booking).
