Bergerie de Ballone

Bergerie de Ballone is a GR20-area alpine bergerie-style hut near Tighjettu. It’s set up for hikers who want an alternative to the PNRC refuges, with family meals and a choice of sleeping arrangements rather than hard dorm beds under a roof.

You book directly by phone with the shepherds (no online reservations). For sleeping, expect bivouac with your own gear or rental of one of their permanently mounted tents with mattresses; the site also has hot showers, toilets, and a river nearby with bathing possible. Meals are ordered with the warden when you arrive, with family-style dinners and breakfasts available.
