Anti Crow Hut

Anti Crow Hut is a Department of Conservation backcountry hut in Arthur’s Pass National Park (North Canterbury/Arthur’s Pass area). It sleeps 8 and is managed as a standard eight-bunk hut; there is a pit latrine and untreated drinking water is available. The hut has a fireplace and mattresses.

To reach Anti Crow Hut, use the O’Malleys Track: it’s a 3 hr one-way walk from the road end, about 7 km, but it requires a crossing of Jordan Stream—don’t attempt if flows are high or rain is forecast. The route starts from SH73 on the true right of the Waimakariri River immediately south of the Bealey road bridge, follows a well-marked track above bluffs to Turkey Flat by Jordan Stream, then includes a 1 km section over Jordan Stream that is partially marked with rough gravel; after the flats, follow intermittent pole markers while staying high to avoid thorny matagouri shrubs. Anti Crow Hut is also the first hut on the Carrington Hut Route.

Bookings are required all year. Standard bookings are for stays up to 30 June 2027; if no availability shows online for your dates, the hut is fully booked and there are no spaces kept for walk-ins. Online booking can be made up to 8 pm on the day of arrival if spaces remain, and phone/in-person bookings at a visitor centre incur a service fee. Fees run until 30 June 2026 at $10 per night for adults (18+), $5 for youth (5–17), and free for children/infants (0–4), with updated rates from 1 July 2026.
