Avoca Hut
Avoca Hut is a basic six-bunk backcountry hut in Craigieburn Forest Park (Canterbury), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s a first-come, first-served hut with free use for overnight stays.
The hut provides drinking water that is untreated, plus a mattress and a fireplace. Toilets are available as pit-latrines. Bring your own water-treatment and be prepared to operate with basic facilities, as no booking is required.
