Aparima Hut

Aparima Hut is a standard 12-bunk backcountry hut in the Takitimu Conservation Area (Southland), run by the Department of Conservation. It’s part of the Te Araroa Trail, and it’s set up for walkers who want straightforward hut accommodation rather than a booking-based system.

Sleeping is on 12 bunks (first come, first served; no standard bookings required). A night stay requires a Standard Hut Ticket bought in advance and placed in the honesty box at the hut, or you can use a Te Araroa Trail Pass; fees are listed on the official hut page. The hut has drinking water (untreated), a fireplace, and toilets with pit latrine disposal.
